OUR MISSION:
All Tribes Christian Camp is dedicated to introducing children, young people, and adults to the good news of Jesus Christ and instilling a deeper and greater passion for God.
OUR VISION:
Our vision is to serve local churches and families through Bible teaching and practical discipleship given during camps, retreats, and events.
ORGANIZATIONAL DISTINCTIVES:
All Tribes is dedicated to making Christ real in all people's lives through serving the churches of our area, strengthening Christian discipleship, encouraging genuine holiness, building faith, and effecting change by turning our affections toward God and fostering a genuine love for Him and for others.
We do this by providing real time away to be with God while experiencing His wonderful creation during a variety of camps and outdoor experiences.
We want to help people know Christ more intimately, grow in understanding and compassion, which equips and leads them to sharing their faith with others, through outdoor experiences, environmental conservation, biblical training, and servant leadership.
HISTORY OF ALL TRIBES CHRISTIAN CAMP
The Camp was started back in the 60's by Millie (Jacob) Troyer. Millie had a dream to provide an outdoor experience to those that may not have had an opportunity. She settled on the property and began the process to fulfill that vision.
Since then, thanks to many volunteer hours, donations and lots of prayer, the camp has grown into what it is today. A rustic feel was maintained with canvas covered tepees, log cabins, tents and a covered wagon. The early campers would sleep in these facilities and eat in the 'cook shack', and if nature called, they went to the 'wee, wee, tepees'. The windmill was rigged to pump water into a barrel that was to be heated by the sun for showers, but as many would attest, the water did not get that warm and it was often a cool morning awakening.
In the late 80's, our lodge was built by generous volunteer labour and donation of funds. During the 90's the log cabins were built followed by the permanent tepees. Five years ago our wash house was built to provide better showering, washroom, and laundry facilities.
In 2002, Millie Troyer retired and continues to serve as a board member and great visionary. Upon Millie's retirement to Indiana, Shaun and Marlene Spence assumed the directorship of the Camp until Jonathan and Marney Stewart were accepted as the new Directors in September, 2007.
ALL TRIBES CHRISTIAN CAMP FACILITY
All Tribes is located on picturesque St Joseph Island, about 60 kilometres from Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, at the base of the mountain on 100 acres of mostly hardwood maple. God has provided a beautiful log lodge featuring a warm stone fireplace, a cozy dining hall, and full kitchen. There are six winterized cabins that sleep between 6-8 each, serviced RV sites for trailers or tents and a modern washroom and shower house. There are plenty of hiking trails to explore and many local attractions within a very short driving distance. Our facility can accomodate groups of up to 50 for overnight stays, and for events not requiring overnights, we can accept groups of up to 150 or more people.
