Jonathan and Marney Stewart lead the Camp family and staff team in seeking to fulfill All Tribes mission and vision for 10 wonderful years.
Jonathan and Marney became the Directors of All Tribes Christian Camp in 2007. They both have had a life-long love for Christian camping, and have personally experienced the impact that a week at camp has on young people.
Jonathan and Marney first met on a blind date in April 2006, started officially dating that June, got engaged on Marney's birthday in September, and were married June 30, 2007. While on their honeymoon, they read Millie's book about All Tribes, and having learned that the Spence's were leaving, they applied for the position. Then in September of 2007, only three months after they were married, they were accepted as the new camp directors!
Jonathan and Marney started living in the mobile home at All Tribes in 2008, and in 2012, moved into the new home they built on the 10th Side Road only a few minutes away. They are active members of the St. Joseph Island Free Methodist Church, where Marney teaches Sunday School and Jonathan sits on the Board. They have eight nieces and two nephews, all of whom they love dearly!
Although Jonathan didn't grow up attending All Tribes, he was involved in Christian camping from a very young age. He grew up in Echo Bay with his parents, Harold and Martha (Hicks), and two sisters (Laura and Ruthie). Beginning when he was two, Jonathan's mom helped as the nurse at Galilean Bible Camp, and he has been at camp almost every year since! Jonathan has had a wide variety of work and life experiences. He has worked as a bread slicer, managed production for a sports card company, shipped commodities overseas, farmed for his Dad, started an international organization promoting community wide character development, and has managed numerous construction projects. Jonathan now works as a Real Estate Broker with Sutton Group - Sault Ste. Marie Realty where he has specialized for over 10 years in the sale of rural, waterfront, and farm properties. Although real estate is a demanding career, it does let him still be involved in the community and also gives him some flexibility schedule wise, which he really appreciates during the three weeks that camp is running.
Jonathan is a visionary who loves new ideas and big projects. He says his biggest and proudest accomplishment in life was convincing Marney to marry him. He loves God, enjoys sharing from His Word, and, with Christ's life within, just wants to "finish well." Jonathan's responsibilities at All Tribes includes finding chapel speakers, doing devotionals, leading the staff team, sharing and raising support for the camp mission, and managing the various projects and initiatives the camp has underway.
Marney (Nadjiwon) grew up just down the road from Kentvale store on St. Joseph Island. Her loving family includes her dad Bernie, her mom Janine (Hawdon), and three brothers (Phil, Tim, and Mike). Every year since she was four years old, she has enjoyed spending part of her summer at All Tribes Camp, as both a camper and counselor. Millie Jacobs Troyer has always been a real inspiration to her, and today, she still can't wait for the warm summer weather to come and for camp to start again at All Tribes! Marney loves her amazing Saviour Jesus Christ, her handsome husband, and enjoys spending time with family and friends. Marney trained as a teacher at Nipissing University, and now works as an occasional teacher with the Algoma District School Board. She has had a broad range of teaching experience over the years in our local schools, and immediately after university, also spent one year teaching in London, England.
Marney is a cheerful person who loves life and its daily joys. She enjoys exercising, getting outside for long walks, traveling with Jonathan, and snowmobiling around the Island during the winter. Marney's main responsibilities for All Tribes include recruiting and coordinating the staff team, keeping us all organized, and developing and leading the actual camp programming each summer. One of her most favourite things is finding (or coming up with) crazy new games to try at camp each year!
